Happy Birthday to Me!

This past Sunday was my 30th birthday. So, in order to celebrate properly I invited over some friends and had a BBQ. For the main course, I made a nifty little gem called the Bacon Explosion. Click here for a detailed breakdown on how to make your own. It tastes absolutely delicious and is in no way good for you. Perfect for celebrating the 'Dirty Thirty.'

Crooked ass'd sh!t

One last pic for tonight. I spent way too much time cutting, grinding and filing to make this fit together nicely to realize that it was bent after the fact. The goal was to get a 1/2" out of the steering stem to update an older style frame with a newer front end (ie. disc brake). At least I have an extra steering stem laying around....that isn't crooked or bent.

We've got gas

This is the second tank that I got for this bike. Originally I was going with a high tunnel Wassell peanut knockoff, but decided I wanted to go with the low tunnel look. As luck would have it, I found an original Wassell tank and was able to get it mounted up this past weekend. Check it out and let me know what you think.

In hindsight, I should have gotten a full on profile shot of the bike....maybe next week.

Brakes and Sprockets

I know it's been awhile since I updated this thing, but some work has been going on the chopper and I'll do a little catching up right now.

First up is the front disc brake. The caliper on there isn't permanently mounted. I need to find the hardware....it's in the shed somewhere. Check out the buttonhead SS hardware on the disc mount...I think it adds a nice touch.

Up next is the rear wheel. I had my buddy Dan bead blast the sprocket and I cleaned up the hardware to make it look presentable. Hopefully the finish holds up once this thing has a few miles on it.

A Christmas present I built

This will be my last post of 2008. Figuring it's new years eve and all, I don't think I'm going to get much more accomplished before now and midnight. Anyway, here's a table I built for my nephew for Christmas. I went home for Christmas and was immediately put to work on this. Considering I'm not a carpenter, I thought the 3 days it took to build was pretty good. Most of that was painting/staining and wait to dry and do it again and again. Here's the breakdown.

The Table top. Notice the dovetail joints, those took me four hours worth of practice to get just right. And once I got it right, I knocked out the whole table in 20 minutes.

Random nonsense

School is coming to an end for this semester and finals are coming up. Know what that means....no time to work on the bike. I was able to find some time to sketch up some bikes between classes. Enjoy.

Black Friday

Hopefully no one got trampled to death at Wal-mart today. I made some progress with the bike this week and thought I would post it up to brighten up this darkest of Friday's. I was able to put the new wheels on and the side stand.

And here is a preview pic of the bike with some oddball parts that were laying around the garage.
